The time has come to update political debates for the digital age. Given the capabilities of today’s interactive media, it’s now possible to continue the conversation started in television debates and newspaper coverage. Using the Internet and online video, we can:
If, according to the old saying, “all politics is local,” then the time has come to demonstrate that new, interactive media can invigorate local civic engagement around elections — moving from interest to involvement, from spectacle to civil society.
Personal Democracy Forum, with support from The Knight Foundation and in partnership with Google and YouTube, has created a platform to facilitate that involvement. It's called 10Questions. Here's how it works:

Media and Outreach
Intern
10Questions seeks a highly motivated Media and Outreach Intern to help support a broad range of strategies that will give Americans the ability to shape the agenda leading up to the 2010 midterm elections. This position is ideal for applicants interested in gaining experience in online organizing, online data analysis, communications and political advocacy.
Reporting to and working closely with 10Questions’s communications and outreach staff, the Intern’s projects may include:
· Researching the important issues pertaining to midterm election campaigns in key states
· Monitoring the news cycle for new developments in key campaigns
· Researching and conducting outreach to student networks, unions and grassroots advocacy organizations in key states to participate in 10Questions
· Optimizing 10Questions’ social media assets
· Researching grassroots media outlets in key states and conducting outreach for media placements to promote 10Questions
Required Skills and
Experience
Strong reading, writing and interpersonal skills
Experience as a student or campaign volunteer on political and/or social justice issues
Ability to communicate ideas and information effectively
Strong understanding of political process
This is a part-time, paid opportunity available immediately and will continue through the second week of October. The intern should expect to work 20 hours per week in our New York City office.
