Policy Director

House Majority (Democratic) Office - The State Capitol

The Policy Director designs and executes the House Majority's legislative agenda, working closely with lawmakers, Governor's office, state departments, communications staff, bill drafters, advocacy groups, media and constituents. Duties vary, but applicant should possess broad interests and an ability to digest complex subjects quickly and effectively.

SKILLS:

• Public policy experience – particularly in health care, education, economic development or the environment – highly recommended

• Good judgment

• Excellent writing, communication and editing abilities

• Ability to juggle difficult tasks

• Strong knowledge of how the legislative process works

• Working knowledge of Colorado's budget
