The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights, a nationally recognized, California-based citizen advocacy group, deploys an in-house team of public interest attorneys, policy experts, and grassroots activists to advance and protect the interests of consumers and taxpayers. DESCRIPTION:
Assisting FTCR’s Litigation Project staff attorneys who represent consumers in high-profile litigation before administrative agencies and in court on all of FTCR’s core issues; drafting legal pleadings and research memoranda; discovery review; participating in regulatory rate and rulemaking proceedings before the Department of Insurance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates
ideally will have completed 2nd year of law school, but will accept
resumes from 2nd years who have demonstrated high-quality legal
research and writing ability; a demonstrated commitment to public interest law,
and a strong interest in consumer advocacy issues. Computer research (Westlaw)
and word processing skills (Microsoft Word) are required. Must be able to work independently and
willing to dive into uncharted territory.
Candidates are
encouraged to apply for Public Interest Law Foundation grants, and other
similar grants and/or work-study to fund their work experience at FTCR.
