Deputy Communications Director

House Majority Office - Colorado State Capitol

The Deputy Communications Director helps execute the communication department’s goals and agenda, working closing with lawmakers, media and advocacy groups. The person will assist in the planning and implementation of the House Majority’s communication and policy plans by providing written, verbal, administrative and legislative support. Duties would include coordinating media relations, managing contact records Web capabilities, organizing and scheduling press conferences, maintaining contact lists and clip files, doing research on public policy, and building key constituencies in areas across the state.

SKILLS:

• Excellent writing and editing abilities

• Knowledge of print, television, radio and online media outlets across the state

• Solid grasp of the current and future political landscape in Colorado, including all statewide issues

• Good working knowledge of Colorado government and other state entities

• Successful experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects

• Ability to use advanced computer software
