Progressive Future
Recruiter Job Description
We’ve started a new progressive organization to take our country in a different direction—and we need talented, hard-working grassroots organizers to help turn the tide. We’ll be running a multi-faceted campaign that will include organizing around core progressive issues; building membership and raising funds to create a sustainable organization; and conducting a huge grassroots get-out-the-vote drive to help elect a progressive president in November 2008.
Our most urgent priority is to find the best organizers we can and get them on the ground as soon as possible. We need talented and motivated recruiters to identify and hire these organizers now.
2007-2008 Campaign Recruiters
will:
Identify candidates by telling our campaign story. To motivate the best candidates to work with us, we’ll need to tell a compelling story about our campaign. Recruiters will work to generate tens of thousands of resumes by talking to people at jobs fairs, on campuses, through paid ads, and more. They will find creative ways to get our message across, and alternative venues for generating resumes and applications.
Interview and evaluate organizer candidates. Recruiters will conduct interviews with applicants for the field organizer position. In these interviews, recruiters must both tell a compelling story about our campaign (recruit) and determine if each candidate is a potential fit for our organization (evaluate).
Recruiters will work to hire field
organizers who will:
· Generate media attention and build public awareness around core progressive issues;
· Influence decision-makers using grassroots tactics;
· Build a political network;
· Generate membership and financial support by canvassing and canvass directing;
· Build the organization and larger progressive movement by recruiting staff; and
· Work with volunteers to get out the progressive vote in 2008.
