Global Justice will hire a NATIONAL
ORGANIZER to begin work in July 2007. Based in Washington, DC,
the position will organize and support the Student Global AIDS Campaign
(SGAC). The National Organizer will be paid an annual salary of
$26,000 along with full health and dental insurance. This is a full
time position which will require both travel and evening/weekend work.
Responsibilities:
* Work with campaign Steering
Committees to achieve both internal (chapter development, training,
etc.) and external (policy change, partnerships) goals;
* Work closely with student
campaign coordinators to support the work of the steering/coordinating
committees including tasks ranging from arranging travel and conference
calls to providing research on policy issues;
* Coordinate and encourage
communication and outreach efforts within the campaign and across
chapters;
* Maintain chapter registries and databases;
* Develop and disseminate chapter development and advocacy materials;
* Travel to campuses to conduct issue and organizing-skills trainings;
* Travel throughout the country to establish new chapters of SGAC
* Plan conferences and campaign events;
* Assist with writing reports, newsletters, and grant proposals for campaigns;
* Supervise campaign intern(s).
Description:
* BA/BS or equivalent experience;
* Experience with SGAC campaign strongly desired, experience with student campaigning required;
* Experience with international affairs, international development, and public health preferred;
* Commitment to the vision of Global Justice and each of its campaigns;
* Strong communication skills, comfort using phone and email for communication;
* Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team, public
speaking and workshop facilitation techniques, (experience with Global
Justice is a plus).
