Regional Coordinator
The Sierra Nevada Alliance has been
protecting and restoring Sierra land, water, wildlife and communities since
1993. The Alliance unites hundreds of
individuals and groups behind a common goal of protecting and restoring the
natural values of the Sierra Nevada for future
generations while promoting sustainable communities. The Sierra Nevada Alliance
is leading, in partnership with SYRCL and Lahontan Regional Water Quality
Control Board, a Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership (SNAP) program. The
mission of SNAP is to develop the capacity of community-based organizations to
play a leading role in the protection, restoration and stewardship of public
lands, local waterways and working landscapes of the Sierra
Nevada region. The program will place, train, and support up to
twenty-seven AmeriCorps Members to work with one of 20 conservation groups
and/or agencies within the Sierra to implement habitat restoration, ecological
monitoring, watershed education and/or volunteer recruitment programs.
Title: SNAP Regional Coordinator

Position
Description: The
SNAP Regional Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Executive
Director and other staff in supporting the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership
program. The SNAP program will provide training and mentorship to AmeriCorps
Members who will serve in an 11.5 month program. The Regional Coordinator will
regionally manage up to fifteen AmeriCorps Members to complete program goals,
co-organize trainings, handle AmeriCorps regional reporting and basic
administration, and help coordinate the overall SNAP program.
Responsibilities
and Activities:
- Staying abreast of
Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps partner activities throughout the Sierra
- Establishing and
maintaining consistent lines of communication and working relationships
with a network of partner groups and AmeriCorps Members focused on Sierra
conservation
- Developing educational,
administrative, and training materials for the program
- Organizing workshops,
trainings, tours and other events
- Conducting partner site
visits and evaluations
- Managing and supporting
site partners and members to complete program goals
- Collecting member
reports and writing monthly and other periodic program reports
- Issuing monthly SNAP
updates
- Facilitating local and
region-wide conference calls and meetings
- Assisting with program
fundraising including writing grants and event organizing
- Working with Executive
Director to prepare program budgets and work plans, identify program
needs, and draft reports on program progress

Necessary Skills
and Qualifications
- Ability to work well
with local conservation leaders, statewide advocates, and local government
staff
- Administrative skills
and ability to keep records and generate reports
- Experience organizing
events, facilitating groups, recruiting and maintaining volunteers
- Demonstrated ability to
manage volunteers and/or staff
- Capacity to manage
projects and/or programs. Ability to layout work tasks, identify resources
to complete projects, leverage human and financial resources, focus
his/her own work, complete tasks on time, on budget and of a high quality
- Persuasive writing and
editing skills and experience developing public information materials
- Public speaking and telephone
skills
- Independent, highly
motivated, able to work under pressure with frequent deadlines and limited
supervision
- Passion for the
Sierra’s natural environment and grassroots groups
- Proficiency using
personal computers and the Internet
- Ability to travel
throughout the region via automobile. Must have a valid State Driver’s
license
- Interest in natural
resources and/or environmental issues

- Familiarity with the
Sierra
Compensation:
Full time position
with evening and weekend meetings. Salary will range from $35,000-$37,600
dependent on experience and qualification. Health and dental benefits provided.
This position reports to the Executive Director.

Sierra Watershed Coordinator
The Sierra Nevada Alliance has been

works to protect and restore the health of the region’s 24 major watersheds by
providing resources, training, and networking to emerging and existing watershed
collaborative groups throughout the Sierra Nevada.
Title: Sierra Watershed Coordinator
Location: South Lake Tahoe,

Position
Description: The Sierra Watershed Coordinator is responsible for
assisting the Watershed Program Director in implementing the organization’s
regional watershed program. This program inspires watershed stewardship groups
where none exist and supports new and existing watershed councils throughout
the range. Support includes helping network watershed groups around the region,
linking groups to needed technical and financial resources, developing
resources and offering trainings, providing financial support, and assisting in
the development of community education and outreach programs. The Alliance seeks an
individual who loves the Sierra, is well organized, comfortable working with a
broad range of people, and has the skills to perform the responsibilities
listed below.
Responsibilities
and Activities:
- Working
with grassroots groups in creating and maintaining volunteer water
monitoring programs.
- Maintaining
consistent lines of communication and working relationships with a network
of watershed coordinators and leaders throughout the Sierra.
- Helping
in the facilitation of meetings and discussion groups
- Assisting
in creating and maintaining citizen monitoring, planning, restoration and
protection projects
- Conducting
public education and outreach activities
- Organizing
logistics for events, trainings and workshops
- Fundraising
including researching and writing grants, event organizing, and recruiting
in-kind goods and services
- Recruiting,
training and supervising interns
- Working
with Watershed Program Director to prepare program budgets and work plans,
identify program needs, and draft reports on program progress
- Researching
Sierra watershed issues and producing regional reports
- Maintaining
watershed databases
- Other

Compensation: Full time position with evening and weekend
meetings. Starting salary will range
from $33,000- $37,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits
include health and dental coverage. This position reports to the Watershed
Program Director.
