David Masur

Background: Mr. Masur has been state director of PennEnvironment since 2002, and is responsible for coordinating policy development, research and legislative advocacy. Mr. Masur primarily focuses on clean water issues in Pennsylvania. He spearheads PennEnvironment’s open space protection program and has served as an organizer and spokesperson on several statewide conservation initiatives, including PennEnvironment’s work to increase funding for Pennsylvania’s Growing Greener program. His experience includes lobbying state and federal decision makers, and coordinating the efforts of the PennEnvironment with other statewide environmental groups. He serves as on the steering committee for PARC (the Pennsylvania Alliance for Recreation and Conservation), which is a coalition of the state’s leading environmental organizations working to further fund the Commonwealth’s cornerstone environmental programs. He has worked closely with the editorial staff in the Commonwealth’s largest media outlets, and has appeared on Philadelphia's NBC, Fox-TV, ABC, CBS and WB affiliates.
Between 1996 and 2002, Mr. Masur was the Director for PennPIRG where he led environmental, consumer and good government campaigns. Mr. Masur has also served as an organizer with the Connecticut Public Interest Research Group and directed citizen outreach offices in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh where he educated thousands of citizens about environmental issues.
Mr. Masur is also the President of the PennEnvironment Research & Policy Center, the 501(c)(3) sister organization of PennEnvironment.
