Expertise: prescription drugs, health care, medical malpractice, social security

Background: Paul Brown is a consumer advocate with U.S. PIRG and works on a variety of issues with an emphasis on health care, including prescription drug safety and availability, preserving consumer legal rights and other issues.

Paul joined U.S. PIRG in January 2006. Prior to that, he served as the Southern Nevada Director of the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN) for 11 years. He worked on successful campaigns on issues including health care, voting rights, campaign finance reform, and increasing the state budget for education and social safety net programs. PLAN is a state-wide coalition of 40 organizations including health care advocates, environmentalists, labor unions, low-income groups and LGBT activists.

Mr. Brown has authored or co-authored numerous reports on campaign finance reform, economic contributions of immigrants and state taxes. He has been frequently quoted in Nevada’s major newspapers—The Las Vegas Review-Journal, The Las Vegas Sun, The Reno Gazette Journal and Las Vegas CityLife. He’s written or co-written numerous published op-eds and LTEs. Mr. Brown has been interviewed extensively on radio and television. He’s appeared numerous times on Face to Face with Jon Ralston, the premiere political TV talk program in Las Vegas. Prior to taking the job with PLAN, Paul spent several years as a standup comedian.
