Background: Ms. Stanfield has testified before the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Clean air and automobile fuels and before the Illinois House Environmental Health Committee on toxic flame retardants. She has appeared on CNN Headline News and Chicago Tonight. She serves on the board of the Illinois Environmental Council, the U.S. Climate Action Network, Chicago Women in Philanthropy, and Earthshare Illinois.
Prior to returning to her native Illinois, Ms. Stanfield was based in Washington, D.C., where she directed the clean air campaign for U.S. PIRG, the federal advocacy office for the national network of state PIRGs. She also led NJPIRG's efforts to prevent cuts in utility energy efficiency budgets, to clean up New Jersey's dirty power plants, and to establish long-term mechanisms to fund renewable energy and energy efficiency investments.
Ms. Stanfield is also the Director of the Environment Illinois Research & Education Center, the 501(c)(3) sister organization of Environment Illinois.
