Expertise: toxic waste, corporate influence over science and regulation
Background: Mr. Madsen provides research and policy support for PIRG advocates across the country. He has authored over 20 reports on public health, clean energy, global warming, and land use, including "The Public Health Impact Of Air Pollution In New Jersey," "Energy Efficiency: The Smart Way to Reduce Global Warming Pollution in the Northeast," and “The Value of Open Space: How Preserving North Carolina's Natural Heritage Benefits Our Economy and Quality of Life.” Mr. Madsen's work has won coverage in a wide variety of local and national media outlets, including the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Boston Globe, the Denver Post and the Detroit News. Before joining the Frontier Group in 2002, Mr. Madsen worked with New Jersey PIRG to pass tougher limits on automobile air pollution and directed citizen outreach campaigns for Florida PIRG.
